Why YOU are Unique
Hi! 😊
Apologies for my one year long hiatus...
But I'm Back!!
If you have trouble understanding English, do not forget that you can change the language by
pressing the "Select Language" box in the menu bar at the left hand corner on the first page . :)
The other day when I was scrolling down my Facebook page, I stumbled upon an incredibly inspirational quote from one of my old high school teachers and it gave me some motivation to start blogging again. This quote is from H. Jackson Brown, Jr and may sound pretty simple, but has a very important message behind it.
As countless people might know that the English language is one of the most world-widely spoken language in the world. However, the importance of the English language in our world is sometimes getting a little out of hand. Because of this, almost every country in the world often pressures children, teenagers and even adults to master it. In some cultures, they even use a persons English skills to measures a persons value, which in my opinion, is not right. While those people who are fortunate to be born and raised in a country where they have English as their mother-tongue, there are still numerous individuals who has to struggle to learn it everyday. But learning another language that isn't your native spoken language is extremely difficult. The differences between the grammatical and phonetic structure between two languages can cause some real hardship.
For example:
When a Thai person tries to say a sentence like
"Where are you going?" in English
The syntactic (The arrangement of words and phrases to create well-formed sentences in a language) meaning in Thai is actually
"You going where?" (Khun ja phai nai = คุณจะไปไหน)
The difference between the language systems in every language, causes many people who aren't familiar with English to say sentences or words that are syntactically and phonologically incorrect. I mean imagine having to rearrange every word and sentence structure according to a totally different grammatical order before being able to say one tiny sentence. However, just because you speak bad English doesn't mean that you are more inferior than those who speak it perfectly.
Do not forget that you have already mastered a language and can speak it perfectly fluent!!
It doesn't matter if it's Spanish, Arabic, Thai, Swedish or even sign language, you have the ability to master a language automatically. You are able to communicate with others, understand the implications and express yourself freely. That is a gift you should feel proud of!!
Though I'm not saying that English isn't important. I mean every language has a significant part in our lives, and English just happens to the one that most people comprehend. However, do not let your lack of any English components (Listening, Speaking, Reading or Writing) determine who you are. Skills or grades do not measure a persons value. Just because your English isn't as good as the native speakers doesn't mean that you are inferior to them.
Therefore, remember this every time you're struggling with your English learning:
👉 Be confident when you speak.
👉 You are truly unique just the way you are.
👉 Don't be afraid to be wrong, then you'll never learn.
👉 Be blessed and proud of your native speaking language.
👉 Do not let yourself down because of the lack of some skill.
👉 Always try your best in every situation and if the outcome isn't as you expected.
So for those of you out there who are fighting a battle with the English language, I sincerely wish you all the best and hope that you will master it in the near future. I'll tell you once again that your English level does not determine who you are, rather your actions does. You have already mastered a language all by yourself and THAT itself already makes you a genius.
Also, never make fun of a person who speaks your native language brokenly, it just means that they know and can speak another language perfectly.
Don't forget to "Stay Awesome!" 😆
xoxo itsfaarida
